Highlands

The last leg of our trip took us to Seneca, South Carolina to spend some time with Kris' parents.. the kids and myself arrived Thursday afternnon and Kris showed up that later that evening in time to watch the Steelers play there first game ..  that evening Solomyn decided it was bubble time since he had found them in the diaper bag so we went out on the porch and well made a mess.. ( can I just say these pictures make him look like he is 4 years old)

Now Kris' parents have been raving about going over to Highlands NC to walk around and see all the little shops there and have lunch.. So Saturday morning we all packed up filled up a cooler and headed up the mountain.. It is only 60 miles but it takes almost 2 hrs to get there.. and if you know me well.. You know I have vertigo and get horrible car sick if I am not driving.. THIS WAS NOT A GOOD DRIVE.. LOL..  I drove but it did not help I battled getting sick for the whole trip up the mountain.. But, once we made it there it was BEAUTIFUL.. There are cute little authentic shops lining the street including a Kilwins and little kids clothing boutique's.. There is a small welcome center that has a little playground attached to it and the kids decided they needed to play after that long drive....

After blowing off some steam we walked up and down the street, window shopping and browsing , and actually entering the toy store and children's shops where Solomyn was free to touch and me free to look around... Ha ha...   Outside of one of the stores there was a little pink tent set up and Solomyn decided it would be the perfect spot to enjoy a little snack...

Since everyone was starting to get hungry Kris and I decided we would go get the cooler and find a spot to make ourselves a picnic..  Connie knew of the perfect spot we should go to...  There was a little grocery store at the end of the road that had a little waterfall right next to it.. So off we went to set up our picnic... After grabbing drinks at the grocery store and eating till our bellies were about to burst we decided this would be a great spot for a family shoot.. ( YES, we looked like total tourists and YES, people were staring but as you can see we had a great time.. )

We also had Grandma Connie and Pap Pap Karl get in on the action.. Looking back though, I have no idea why we did not get a picture of them with the grand kids..  Next time we will have to Def. remember that...

After all the Fun we made the trek back to South Carolina.... Where I got sicker then a dog and had to sleep off the ride till dinner.. After waking up, I found my boys outside feeding the little fishes...
Solomyn was in LOVE with the idea of feeding them.. at first he just would throw the fish food in and by the third day the fish bucket had now turned into a water table..  Those poor poor fish..

Karson also showed him how to catch them with the little broken net..  Once again those poor poor fish...

We had a Wonderful visit and Absolutely the best summer in a long time... To travel for 2 months by myself with 3 kids was quite the adventure.. Full of memories, Lot's of fun and great company.. A BIG THANK YOU.. To everyone who took us in, catered to us like we were kings and queens and loved on my kids like they were yours..  We are blessed to have all of you in our lives to share our Journey with..  :)

Sweet Thunder..

So after being in Florida for 4 weeks we made the 13 hour trek back to NC.. Unpacked the car, did laundry, repacked and headed to the Georgia Mountains for a week...  The kids have been waiting to get there to see if Freckles the Beautiful brown and white horse there on the property had her baby... After the 5 hour drive and winding up the dirt road to the top of the mountain we got to see this...

Sweet little Thunder lying on the ground next to his momma.. OHHH how the kids were sooo excited to see him... ( and so was I )

After a quick peek we headed up to the cabin... where antlers hang from the ceiling...

Snacks are better on the stairs....

Playdough takes the place of T.V....

And hardwork is done by all ( Even Karson Noah)

For a week our Evenings run like clockwork.. Dinner is later then usual and then followed by our evening walks and motor cycle rides down to see the horses...

Solomyn would run as fast as his little feet would take him...

And as we were excited to see sweet Thunder.. Solomyn was just as excited to play in the rocks..  And you know it must be an Amazing rock if it makes your eyes cross..  LOL...

And as he would babble to the horses about his treasure he has found they would listen to him like they really understood.. It was very cute to watch.. :)

Madi and Karson fell in LOVE with little Thunder and took MANY MANY pictures of them...  Here are a few of my favorites..

We would eventually make our way back up the mountain...

Where ice cream is waiting and popcorn is popping and the kids and Mr. Garth gather around the computer to watch movies and Mom and I just chat..

While we get to take in the Beautiful Mountain sunset...
